1The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel:

2To know wisdom and instruction; To discern the words of understanding;

3To receive instruction in wise dealing, In righteousness and justice and equity;

4To give prudence to the simple, To the young man knowledge and discretion:

5That the wise man may hear, and increase in learning; And that the man of understanding may attain unto sound counsels:

6To understand a proverb, and a figure, The words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

7The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of knowledge; `But' the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.

8My son, hear the instruction of thy father, And forsake not the law of thy mother:

9For they shall be a chaplet of grace unto thy head, And chains about thy neck.

10My son, if sinners entice thee, Consent thou not.

11If they say, Come with us, Let us lay wait for blood; Let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause;

12Let us swallow them up alive as Sheol, And whole, as those that go down into the pit;

13We shall find all precious substance; We shall fill our houses with spoil;

14Thou shalt cast thy lot among us; We will all have one purse:

15My son, walk not thou in the way with them; Refrain thy foot from their path:

16For their feet run to evil, And they make haste to shed blood.

17For in vain is the net spread In the sight of any bird:

18And these lay wait for their own blood; They lurk privily for their own lives.

19So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; It taketh away the life of the owners thereof.

20Wisdom crieth aloud in the street; She uttereth her voice in the broad places;

21She crieth in the chief place of concourse; At the entrance of the gates, In the city, she uttereth her words:

22How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? And scoffers delight them in scoffing, And fools hate knowledge?

23Turn you at my reproof: Behold, I will pour out my spirit upon you; I will make known my words unto you.

24Because I have called, and ye have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man hath regarded;

25But ye have set at nought all my counsel, And would none of my reproof:

26I also will laugh in `the day of' your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

27When your fear cometh as a storm, And your calamity cometh on as a whirlwind; When distress and anguish come upon you.

28Then will they call upon me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they shall not find me:

29For that they hated knowledge, And did not choose the fear of Jehovah:

30They would none of my counsel; They despised all my reproof.

31Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, And be filled with their own devices.

32For the backsliding of the simple shall slay them, And the careless ease of fools shall destroy them.

33But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell securely, And shall be quiet without fear of evil.

1다윗의 아들 이스라엘 왕 솔로몬의 잠언이라

2이는 지혜와 훈계를 알게 하며 명철의 말씀을 깨닫게 하며

3지혜롭게, 공의롭게, 정의롭게, 정직하게 행할 일에 대하여 훈계를 받게 하며

4어리석은 자를 슬기롭게 하며 젊은 자에게 지식과 근신함을 주기 위한 것이니

5지혜 있는 자는 듣고 학식이 더할 것이요 명철한 자는 지략을 얻을 것이라

6잠언과 비유와 지혜 있는 자의 말과 그 오묘한 말을 깨달으리라

7여호와를 경외하는 것이 지식의 근본이거늘 미련한 자는 지혜와 훈계를 멸시하느니라

8내 아들아 네 아비의 훈계를 들으며 네 어미의 법을 떠나지 말라

9이는 네 머리의 아름다운 관이요 네 목의 금 사슬이니라

10내 아들아 악한 자가 너를 꾈지라도 따르지 말라

11그들이 네게 말하기를 우리와 함께 가자 우리가 가만히 엎드렸다가 사람의 피를 흘리자 죄 없는 자를 까닭 없이 숨어 기다리다가

12스올 같이 그들을 산 채로 삼키며 무덤에 내려가는 자들 같이 통으로 삼키자

13우리가 온갖 보화를 얻으며 빼앗은 것으로 우리 집을 채우리니

14너는 우리와 함께 제비를 뽑고 우리가 함께 전대 하나만 두자 할지라도

15내 아들아 그들과 함께 길에 다니지 말라 네 발을 금하여 그 길을 밟지 말라

16대저 그 발은 악으로 달려가며 피를 흘리는 데 빠름이니라

17새가 보는 데서 그물을 치면 헛일이겠거늘

18그들이 가만히 엎드림은 자기의 피를 흘릴 뿐이요 숨어 기다림은 자기의 생명을 해할 뿐이니

19이익을 탐하는 모든 자의 길은 다 이러하여 자기의 생명을 잃게 하느니라

20지혜가 길거리에서 부르며 광장에서 소리를 높이며

21시끄러운 길목에서 소리를 지르며 성문 어귀와 성중에서 그 소리를 발하여 이르되

22너희 어리석은 자들은 어리석음을 좋아하며 거만한 자들은 거만을 기뻐하며 미련한 자들은 지식을 미워하니 어느 때까지 하겠느냐

23나의 책망을 듣고 돌이키라 보라 내가 나의 영을 너희에게 부어 주며 내 말을 너희에게 보이리라

24내가 불렀으나 너희가 듣기 싫어하였고 내가 손을 폈으나 돌아보는 자가 없었고

25도리어 나의 모든 교훈을 멸시하며 나의 책망을 받지 아니하였은즉

26너희가 재앙을 만날 때에 내가 웃을 것이며 너희에게 두려움이 임할 때에 내가 비웃으리라

27너희의 두려움이 광풍 같이 임하겠고 너희의 재앙이 폭풍 같이 이르겠고 너희에게 근심과 슬픔이 임하리니

28그 때에 너희가 나를 부르리라 그래도 내가 대답하지 아니하겠고 부지런히 나를 찾으리라 그래도 나를 만나지 못하리니

29대저 너희가 지식을 미워하며 여호와 경외하기를 즐거워하지 아니하며

30나의 교훈을 받지 아니하고 나의 모든 책망을 업신여겼음이니라

31그러므로 자기 행위의 열매를 먹으며 자기 꾀에 배부르리라

32어리석은 자의 퇴보는 자기를 죽이며 미련한 자의 안일은 자기를 멸망시키려니와

33오직 내 말을 듣는 자는 평안히 살며 재앙의 두려움이 없이 안전하리라

1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the wicked, Nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of scoffers:

2But his delight is in the law of Jehovah; And on his law doth he meditate day and night.

3And he shall be like a tree planted by the streams of water, That bringeth forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also doth not wither; And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

4The wicked are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

5Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

6For Jehovah knoweth the way of the righteous; But the way of the wicked shall perish.

1복 있는 사람은 악인들의 꾀를 따르지 아니하며 죄인들의 길에 서지 아니하며 오만한 자들의 자리에 앉지 아니하고

2오직 여호와의 율법을 즐거워하여 그의 율법을 주야로 묵상하는도다

3그는 시냇가에 심은 나무가 철을 따라 열매를 맺으며 그 잎사귀가 마르지 아니함 같으니 그가 하는 모든 일이 다 형통하리로다

4악인들은 그렇지 아니함이여 오직 바람에 나는 겨와 같도다

5그러므로 악인들은 심판을 견디지 못하며 죄인들이 의인들의 모임에 들지 못하리로다

6무릇 의인들의 길은 여호와께서 인정하시나 악인들의 길은 망하리로다

1Why do the nations rage, And the peoples meditate a vain thing?

2The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against Jehovah, and against his anointed, `saying',

3Let us break their bonds asunder, And cast away their cords from us.

4He that sitteth in the heavens will laugh: The Lord will have them in derision.

5Then will he speak unto them in his wrath, And vex them in his sore displeasure:

6Yet I have set my king Upon my holy hill of Zion.

7I will tell of the decree: Jehovah said unto me, Thou art my son; This day have I begotten thee.

8Ask of me, and I will give `thee' the nations for thine inheritance, And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

9Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

10Now therefore be wise, O ye kings: Be instructed, ye judges of the earth.

11Serve Jehovah with fear, And rejoice with trembling.

12Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way, For his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all they that take refuge in him. Psalm 3 A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son.

1어찌하여 이방 나라들이 분노하며 민족들이 헛된 일을 꾸미는가

2세상의 군왕들이 나서며 관원들이 서로 꾀하여 여호와와 그의 기름 부음 받은 자를 대적하며

3우리가 그들의 맨 것을 끊고 그의 결박을 벗어 버리자 하는도다

4하늘에 계신 이가 웃으심이여 주께서 그들을 비웃으시리로다

5그 때에 분을 발하며 진노하사 그들을 놀라게 하여 이르시기를

6내가 나의 왕을 내 거룩한 산 시온에 세웠다 하시리로다

7내가 여호와의 명령을 전하노라 여호와께서 내게 이르시되 너는 내 아들이라 오늘 내가 너를 낳았도다

8내게 구하라 내가 이방 나라를 네 유업으로 주리니 네 소유가 땅 끝까지 이르리로다

9네가 철장으로 그들을 깨뜨림이여 질그릇 같이 부수리라 하시도다

10그런즉 군왕들아 너희는 지혜를 얻으며 세상의 재판관들아 너희는 교훈을 받을지어다

11여호와를 경외함으로 섬기고 떨며 즐거워할지어다

12그의 아들에게 입맞추라 그렇지 아니하면 진노하심으로 너희가 길에서 망하리니 그의 진노가 급하심이라 여호와께 피하는 모든 사람은 다 복이 있도다

1Jehovah, how are mine adversaries increased! Many are they that rise up against me.

2Many there are that say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah

3But thou, O Jehovah, art a shield about me; My glory and the lifter up of my head.

4I cry unto Jehovah with my voice, And he answereth me out of his holy hill. Selah

5I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for Jehovah sustaineth me.

6I will not be afraid of ten thousands of the people That have set themselves against me round about.

7Arise, O Jehovah; save me, O my God: For thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; Thou hast broken the teeth of the wicked.

8Salvation belongeth unto Jehovah: Thy blessing be upon thy people. Selah Psalm 4 For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.

1여호와여 나의 대적이 어찌 그리 많은지요 일어나 나를 치는 자가 많으니이다

2많은 사람이 나를 대적하여 말하기를 그는 하나님께 구원을 받지 못한다 하나이다 (셀라)

3여호와여 주는 나의 방패시요 나의 영광이시요 나의 머리를 드시는 자이시니이다

4내가 나의 목소리로 여호와께 부르짖으니 그의 성산에서 응답하시는도다 (셀라)

5내가 누워 자고 깨었으니 여호와께서 나를 붙드심이로다

6천만인이 나를 에워싸 진 친다 하여도 나는 두려워하지 아니하리이다

7여호와여 일어나소서 나의 하나님이여 나를 구원하소서 주께서 나의 모든 원수의 뺨을 치시며 악인의 이를 꺾으셨나이다

8구원은 여호와께 있사오니 주의 복을 주의 백성에게 내리소서 (셀라)

1Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness; Thou hast set me at large `when I was' in distress: Have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.

2O ye sons of men, how long shall my glory be turned into dishonor? `How long' will ye love vanity, and seek after falsehood? Selah

3But know that Jehovah hath set apart for himself him that is godly: Jehovah will hear when I call unto him.

4Stand in awe, and sin not: Commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah

5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And put your trust in Jehovah.

6Many there are that say, Who will show us `any' good? Jehovah, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.

7Thou hast put gladness in my heart, More than `they have' when their grain and their new wine are increased.

8In peace will I both lay me down and sleep; For thou, Jehovah, alone makest me dwell in safety. Psalm 5 For the Chief Musician; with the Nehiloth. A Psalm of David.

1내 의의 하나님이여 내가 부를 때에 응답하소서 곤란 중에 나를 너그럽게 하셨사오니 내게 은혜를 베푸사 나의 기도를 들으소서

2인생들아 어느 때까지 나의 영광을 바꾸어 욕되게 하며 헛된 일을 좋아하고 거짓을 구하려는가 (셀라)

3여호와께서 자기를 위하여 경건한 자를 택하신 줄 너희가 알지어다 내가 그를 부를 때에 여호와께서 들으시리로다

4너희는 떨며 범죄하지 말지어다 자리에 누워 심중에 말하고 잠잠할지어다 (셀라)

5의의 제사를 드리고 여호와를 의지할지어다

6여러 사람의 말이 우리에게 선을 보일 자 누구뇨 하오니 여호와여 주의 얼굴을 들어 우리에게 비추소서

7주께서 내 마음에 두신 기쁨은 그들의 곡식과 새 포도주가 풍성할 때보다 더하니이다

8내가 평안히 눕고 자기도 하리니 나를 안전히 살게 하시는 이는 오직 여호와이시니이다

1Give ear to my words, O Jehovah, Consider my meditation.

2Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God; For unto thee do I pray.

3O Jehovah, in the morning shalt thou hear my voice; In the morning will I order `my prayer' unto thee, and will keep watch.

4For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: Evil shall not sojourn with thee.

5The arrogant shall not stand in thy sight: Thou hatest all workers of iniquity.

6Thou wilt destroy them that speak lies: Jehovah abhorreth the blood-thirsty and deceitful man.

7But as for me, in the abundance of thy lovingkindness will I come into thy house: In thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.

8Lead me, O Jehovah, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; Make thy way straight before my face.

9For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; Their inward part is very wickedness; Their throat is an open sepulchre; They flatter with their tongue.

10Hold them guilty, O God; Let them fall by their own counsels; Thrust them out in the multitude of their transgressions; For they have rebelled against thee.

11But let all those that take refuge in thee rejoice, Let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: Let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

12For thou wilt bless the righteous; O Jehovah, thou wilt compass him with favor as with a shield. Psalm 6 For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments, set to the Sheminith. A Psalm of David.

1여호와여 나의 말에 귀를 기울이사 나의 심정을 헤아려 주소서

2나의 왕, 나의 하나님이여 내가 부르짖는 소리를 들으소서 내가 주께 기도하나이다

3여호와여 아침에 주께서 나의 소리를 들으시리니 아침에 내가 주께 기도하고 바라리이다

4주는 죄악을 기뻐하는 신이 아니시니 악이 주와 함께 머물지 못하며

5오만한 자들이 주의 목전에 서지 못하리이다 주는 모든 행악자를 미워하시며

6거짓말하는 자들을 멸망시키시리이다 여호와께서는 피 흘리기를 즐기는 자와 속이는 자를 싫어하시나이다

7오직 나는 주의 풍성한 사랑을 힘입어 주의 집에 들어가 주를 경외함으로 성전을 향하여 예배하리이다

8여호와여 나의 원수들로 말미암아 주의 의로 나를 인도하시고 주의 길을 내 목전에 곧게 하소서

9그들의 입에 신실함이 없고 그들의 심중이 심히 악하며 그들의 목구멍은 열린 무덤 같고 그들의 혀로는 아첨하나이다

10하나님이여 그들을 정죄하사 자기 꾀에 빠지게 하시고 그 많은 허물로 말미암아 그들을 쫓아내소서 그들이 주를 배역함이니이다

11그러나 주께 피하는 모든 사람은 다 기뻐하며 주의 보호로 말미암아 영원히 기뻐 외치고 주의 이름을 사랑하는 자들은 주를 즐거워하리이다

12여호와여 주는 의인에게 복을 주시고 방패로 함 같이 은혜로 그를 호위하시리이다
