12And Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon.
13And Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went out, and met them by the pool of Gibeon; and they sat down, the one on the one side of the pool, and the other on the other side of the pool.
14And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men, I pray thee, arise and play before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.
15Then they arose and went over by number: twelve for Benjamin, and for Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.
16And they caught every one his fellow by the head, and `thrust' his sword in his fellow's side; so they fell down together: wherefore that place was called Helkath-hazzurim, which is in Gibeon.
17And the battle was very sore that day: and Abner was beaten, and the men of Israel, before the servants of David.
18And the three sons of Zeruiah were there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel was as light of foot as a wild roe.
19And Asahel pursued after Abner; and in going he turned not to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner.
20Then Abner looked behind him, and said, Is it thou, Asahel? And he answered, It is I.
21And Abner said to him, Turn thee aside to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay thee hold on one of the young men, and take thee his armor. But Asahel would not turn aside from following him.
22And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: wherefore should I smite thee to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to Joab thy brother?
23Howbeit he refused to turn aside: wherefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear smote him in the body, so that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.
24But Joab and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sun went down when they were come to the hill of Ammah, that lieth before Giah by the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.
25And the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together after Abner, and became one band, and stood on the top of a hill.
26Then Abner called to Joab, and said, Shall the sword devour for ever? knowest thou not that it will be bitterness in the latter end? how long shall it be then, ere thou bid the people return from following their brethren?
27And Joab said, As God liveth, if thou hadst not spoken, surely then in the morning the people had gone away, nor followed every one his brother.
28So Joab blew the trumpet; and all the people stood still, and pursued after Israel no more, neither fought they any more.
29And Abner and his men went all that night through the Arabah; and they passed over the Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and came to Mahanaim.
30And Joab returned from following Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together, there lacked of David's servants nineteen men and Asahel.
31But the servants of David had smitten of Benjamin, and of Abner's men, `so that' three hundred and threescore men died.
32And they took up Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which was in Beth-lehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and the day brake upon them at Hebron.

13스루야의 아들 요압과 다윗의 신복들도 나와 기브온 못 가에서 그들을 만나 함께 앉으니 이는 못 이쪽이요 그는 못 저쪽이라
14아브넬이 요압에게 이르되 원하건대 청년들에게 일어나서 우리 앞에서 겨루게 하자 요압이 이르되 일어나게 하자 하매
15그들이 일어나 그 수대로 나아가니 베냐민과 사울의 아들 이스보셋의 편에 열두 명이요 다윗의 신복 중에 열두 명이라
16각기 상대방의 머리를 잡고 칼로 상대방의 옆구리를 찌르매 일제히 쓰러진지라 그러므로 그 곳을 헬갓 핫수림이라 일컬었으며 기브온에 있더라
17그 날에 싸움이 심히 맹렬하더니 아브넬과 이스라엘 사람들이 다윗의 신복들 앞에서 패하니라
18그 곳에 스루야의 세 아들 요압과 아비새와 아사헬이 있었는데 아사헬의 발은 들노루 같이 빠르더라
19아사헬이 아브넬을 쫓아 달려가되 좌우로 치우치지 않고 아브넬의 뒤를 쫓으니
20아브넬이 뒤를 돌아보며 이르되 아사헬아 너냐 대답하되 나로라
21아브넬이 그에게 이르되 너는 왼쪽으로나 오른쪽으로나 가서 청년 하나를 붙잡아 그의 군복을 빼앗으라 하되 아사헬이 그렇게 하기를 원하지 아니하고 그의 뒤를 쫓으매
22아브넬이 다시 아사헬에게 이르되 너는 나 쫓기를 그치라 내가 너를 쳐서 땅에 엎드러지게 할 까닭이 무엇이냐 그렇게 하면 내가 어떻게 네 형 요압을 대면하겠느냐 하되
23그가 물러가기를 거절하매 아브넬이 창 뒤 끝으로 그의 배를 찌르니 창이 그의 등을 꿰뚫고 나간지라 곧 그 곳에 엎드러져 죽으매 아사헬이 엎드러져 죽은 곳에 이르는 자마다 머물러 섰더라
24요압과 아비새가 아브넬의 뒤를 쫓아 기브온 거친 땅의 길 가 기아 맞은쪽 암마 산에 이를 때에 해가 졌고
25베냐민 족속은 함께 모여 아브넬을 따라 한 무리를 이루고 작은 산 꼭대기에 섰더라
26아브넬이 요압에게 외쳐 이르되 칼이 영원히 사람을 상하겠느냐 마침내 참혹한 일이 생길 줄을 알지 못하느냐 네가 언제 무리에게 그의 형제 쫓기를 그치라 명령하겠느냐
27요압이 이르되 하나님이 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니 네가 말하지 아니하였더라면 무리가 아침에 각각 다 돌아갔을 것이요 그의 형제를 쫓지 아니하였으리라 하고
28요압이 나팔을 불매 온 무리가 머물러 서고 다시는 이스라엘을 쫓아가지 아니하고 다시는 싸우지도 아니하니라
29아브넬과 그의 부하들이 밤새도록 걸어서 아라바를 지나 요단을 건너 비드론 온 땅을 지나 마하나임에 이르니라
30요압이 아브넬 쫓기를 그치고 돌아와 무리를 다 모으니 다윗의 신복 중에 열아홉 명과 아사헬이 없어졌으나
31다윗의 신복들이 베냐민과 아브넬에게 속한 자들을 쳐서 삼백육십 명을 죽였더라
32무리가 아사헬을 들어올려 베들레헴에 있는 그의 조상 묘에 장사하고 요압과 그의 부하들이 밤새도록 걸어서 헤브론에 이른 때에 날이 밝았더라
In a world that constantly demands more — more productivity, more achievement, more anxiety — Psalm 23 speaks a radical word of rest. The shepherd does not drive the sheep; he leads them. There is a profound difference between a God who demands and a God who guides. Today, where do you need to let the Shepherd lead you into rest?

잠언 13장
1A wise son `heareth' his father's instruction; But a scoffer heareth not rebuke.
2A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth; But the soul of the treacherous `shall eat' violence.
3He that guardeth his mouth keepeth his life; `But' he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
4The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
5A righteous man hateth lying; But a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.
6Righteousness guardeth him that is upright in the way; But wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
7There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: There is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great wealth.
8The ransom of a man's life is his riches; But the poor heareth no threatening.
9The light of the righteous rejoiceth; But the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
10By pride cometh only contention; But with the well-advised is wisdom.
11Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished; But he that gathereth by labor shall have increase.
12Hope deferred maketh the heart sick; But when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
13Whoso despiseth the word bringeth destruction on himself; But he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
14The law of the wise is a fountain of life, That one may depart from the snares of death.
15Good understanding giveth favor; But the way of the transgressor is hard.
16Every prudent man worketh with knowledge; But a fool flaunteth `his' folly.
17A wicked messenger falleth into evil; But a faithful ambassador is health.
18Poverty and shame `shall be to' him that refuseth correction; But he that regardeth reproof shall be honored.
19The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul; But it is an abomination to fools to depart from evil.
20Walk with wise men, and thou shalt be wise; But the companion of fools shall smart for it.
21Evil pursueth sinners; But the righteous shall be recompensed with good.
22A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children; And the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous.
23Much food `is in' the tillage of the poor; But there is that is destroyed by reason of injustice.
24He that spareth his rod hateth his son; But he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
25The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul; But the belly of the wicked shall want.
1지혜로운 아들은 아비의 훈계를 들으나 거만한 자는 꾸지람을 즐겨 듣지 아니하느니라
2사람은 입의 열매로 인하여 복록을 누리거니와 마음이 궤사한 자는 강포를 당하느니라
3입을 지키는 자는 자기의 생명을 보전하나 입술을 크게 벌리는 자에게는 멸망이 오느니라
4게으른 자는 마음으로 원하여도 얻지 못하나 부지런한 자의 마음은 풍족함을 얻느니라
5의인은 거짓말을 미워하나 악인은 행위가 흉악하여 부끄러운 데에 이르느니라
6공의는 행실이 정직한 자를 보호하고 악은 죄인을 패망하게 하느니라
7스스로 부한 체하여도 아무 것도 없는 자가 있고 스스로 가난한 체하여도 재물이 많은 자가 있느니라
8사람의 재물이 자기 생명의 속전일 수 있으나 가난한 자는 협박을 받을 일이 없느니라
9의인의 빛은 환하게 빛나고 악인의 등불은 꺼지느니라
10교만에서는 다툼만 일어날 뿐이라 권면을 듣는 자는 지혜가 있느니라
11망령되이 얻은 재물은 줄어가고 손으로 모은 것은 늘어가느니라
12소망이 더디 이루어지면 그것이 마음을 상하게 하거니와 소원이 이루어지는 것은 곧 생명 나무니라
13말씀을 멸시하는 자는 자기에게 패망을 이루고 계명을 두려워하는 자는 상을 받느니라
14지혜 있는 자의 교훈은 생명의 샘이니 사망의 그물에서 벗어나게 하느니라
15선한 지혜는 은혜를 베푸나 사악한 자의 길은 험하니라
16무릇 슬기로운 자는 지식으로 행하거니와 미려한 자는 자기의 미려한 것을 나타내느니라
17악한 사자는 재앙에 빠져도 충성된 사신은 양약이 되느니라
18훈계를 저버리는 자에게는 궁핍과 수욕이 이르거니와 경계를 받는 자는 존영을 받느니라
19소원을 성취하면 마음에 달아도 미련한 자는 악에서 떠나기를 싫어하느니라
20지혜로운 자와 동행하면 지혜를 얻고 미련한 자와 사귀면 해를 받느니라
21재앙은 죄인을 따르고 선한 보응은 의인에게 이르느니라
22선인은 그 산업을 자자손손에게 끼쳐도 죄인의 재물은 의인을 위하여 쌓이느니라
23가난한 자는 밭을 경작함으로 양식이 많아지거니와 불의로 말미암아 가산을 탕진하는 자가 있느니라
24매를 아끼는 자는 그의 자식을 미워함이라 자식을 사랑하는 자는 근실히 징계하느니라
25의인은 포식하여도 악인의 배는 주리느니라

1My soul waiteth in silence for God only: From him `cometh' my salvation.

1O God, thou art my God; earnestly will I seek thee: My soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee, In a dry and weary land, where no water is.
2So have I looked upon thee in the sanctuary, To see thy power and thy glory.
3Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise thee.
4So will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
5My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; And my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips;
6When I remember thee upon my bed, `And' meditate on thee in the night-watches.

1하나님이여 주는 나의 하나님이시라 내가 간절히 주를 찾되 물이 없어 마르고 황폐한 땅에서 내 영혼이 주를 갈망하며 내 육체가 주를 앙모하나이다
2내가 주의 권능과 영광을 보기 위하여 이와 같이 성소에서 주를 바라보았나이다
3주의 인자하심이 생명보다 나으므로 내 입술이 주를 찬양할 것이라
4이러므로 나의 평생에 주를 송축하며 주의 이름으로 말미암아 나의 손을 들리이다
5골수와 기름진 것을 먹음과 같이 나의 영혼이 만족할 것이라 나의 입이 기쁜 입술로 주를 찬송하되
6내가 나의 침상에서 주를 기억하며 새벽에 주의 말씀을 작은 소리로 읊조릴 때에 하오리니
7주는 나의 도움이 되셨음이라 내가 주의 날개 그늘에서 즐겁게 부르리이다
8나의 영혼이 주를 가까이 따르니 주의 오른손이 나를 붙드시거니와
9나의 영혼을 찾아 멸하려 하는 그들은 땅 깊은 곳에 들어가며
10칼의 세력에 넘겨져 승냥이의 먹이가 되리이다
11왕은 하나님을 즐거워하리니 주께 맹세한 자마다 자랑할 것이나 거짓말하는 자의 입은 막히리로다
1Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint: Preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
2Hide me from the secret counsel of evil-doers, From the tumult of the workers of iniquity;
3Who have whet their tongue like a sword, And have aimed their arrows, even bitter words,
4That they may shoot in secret places at the perfect: Suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.
5They encourage themselves in an evil purpose; They commune of laying snares privily; They say, Who will see them?
6They search out iniquities; We have accomplished, `say they', a diligent search: And the inward thought and the heart of every one is deep.
7But God will shoot at them; With an arrow suddenly shall they be wounded.
8So they shall be made to stumble, their own tongue being against them: All that see them shall wag the head.
9And all men shall fear; And they shall declare the work of God, And shall wisely consider of his doing.
10The righteous shall be glad in Jehovah, and shall take refuge in him; And all the upright in heart shall glory. Psalm 65 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm. A song of David.
1하나님이여 내가 근심하는 소리를 들으시고 원수의 두려움에서 나의 생명을 보존하소서
2주는 악을 꾀하는 자들의 음모에서 나를 숨겨 주시고 악을 행하는 자들의 소동에서 나를 감추어 주소서
3그들이 칼 같이 자기 혀를 연마하며 화살 같이 독한 말로 겨누고
4숨은 곳에서 온전한 자를 쏘며 갑자기 쏘고 두려워하지 아니하는도다
5그들은 악한 목적으로 서로 격려하며 남몰래 올무 놓기를 함께 의논하고 하는 말이 누가 우리를 보리요 하며
6그들은 죄악을 꾸미며 이르기를 우리가 묘책을 찾았다 하나니 각 사람의 속 뜻과 마음이 깊도다
7그러나 하나님이 그들을 쏘시리니 그들이 갑자기 화살에 상하리로다
8이러므로 그들이 엎드러지리니 그들의 혀가 그들을 해함이라 그들을 보는 자가 다 머리를 흔들리로다
9모든 사람이 두려워하여 하나님의 일을 선포하며 그의 행하심을 깊이 생각하리로다
10의인은 여호와로 말미암아 즐거워하며 그에게 피하리니 마음이 정직한 자는 다 자랑하리로다
1Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Zion; And unto thee shall the vow be performed.
2O thou that hearest prayer, Unto thee shall all flesh come.
3Iniquities prevail against me: As for our transgressions, thou wilt forgive them.
4Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach `unto thee', That he may dwell in thy courts: We shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, Thy holy temple.
5By terrible things thou wilt answer us in righteousness, Oh God of our salvation, Thou that art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, And of them that are afar off upon the sea:
6Who by his strength setteth fast the mountains, Being girded about with might;
7Who stilleth the roaring of the seas, The roaring of their waves, And the tumult of the peoples.
8They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: Thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.
9Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it, Thou greatly enrichest it; The river of God is full of water: Thou providest them grain, when thou hast so prepared the earth.
10Thou waterest its furrows abundantly; Thou settlest the ridges thereof: Thou makest it soft with showers; Thou blessest the springing thereof.
11Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; And thy paths drop fatness.
12They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness; And the hills are girded with joy.
13The pastures are clothed with flocks; The valleys also are covered over with grain; They shout for joy, they also sing. Psalm 66 For the Chief Musician. A song, a Psalm.
1하나님이여 찬송이 시온에서 주를 기다리오며 사람이 서원을 주께 이행하리이다
2기도를 들으시는 주여 모든 육체가 주께 나아오리이다
3죄악이 나를 이겼사오니 우리의 허물을 주께서 사하시리이다
4주께서 택하시고 가까이 오게 하사 주의 뜰에 살게 하신 사람은 복이 있나이다 우리가 주의 집 곧 주의 성전의 아름다움으로 만족하리이다
5우리 구원의 하나님이시여 땅의 모든 끝과 먼 바다에 있는 자가 의지할 주께서 의를 따라 엄위하신 일로 우리에게 응답하시리이다
6주는 주의 힘으로 산을 세우시며 권능으로 띠를 띠시며
7바다의 설렘과 물결의 흔들림과 만민의 소요까지 진정하시나이다
8땅 끝에 사는 자가 주의 징조를 두려워하나이다 주께서 아침 되는 것과 저녁 되는 것을 즐거워하게 하시며
9땅을 돌보사 물을 대어 심히 윤택하게 하시며 하나님의 땅에 물이 가득하게 하시고 이같이 땅을 예비하신 후에 그들에게 곡식을 주시나이다
10주께서 밭고랑에 물을 넉넉히 대사 그 이랑을 평평하게 하시며 또 단비로 부드럽게 하시고 그 싹에 복을 주시나이다
11주의 은택으로 한 해를 관 씌우시니 주의 길에는 기름 방울이 떨어지며
12들의 초장에도 떨어지니 작은 산들이 기쁨으로 띠를 띠었나이다
13초장은 양 떼로 옷 입었고 골짜기는 곡식으로 덮였으매 그들이 다 즐거이 외치고 또 노래하나이다
