1My son, if thou art become surety for thy neighbor, If thou hast stricken thy hands for a stranger;

2Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, Thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

3Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, Seeing thou art come into the hand of thy neighbor: Go, humble thyself, and importune thy neighbor;

4Give not sleep to thine eyes, Nor slumber to thine eyelids;

5Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand `of the hunter', And as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

6Go to the ant, thou sluggard; Consider her ways, and be wise:

7Which having no chief, Overseer, or ruler,

8Provideth her bread in the summer, And gathereth her food in the harvest.

9How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

10`Yet' a little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep:

11So shall thy poverty come as a robber, And thy want as an armed man.

12A worthless person, a man of iniquity, Is he that walketh with a perverse mouth;

13That winketh with his eyes, that speaketh with his feet, That maketh signs with his fingers;

14In whose heart is perverseness, Who deviseth evil continually, Who soweth discord.

15Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; On a sudden shall he be broken, and that without remedy.

16There are six things which Jehovah hateth; Yea, seven which are an abomination unto him:

17Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood;

18A heart that deviseth wicked purposes, Feet that are swift in running to mischief,

19A false witness that uttereth lies, And he that soweth discord among brethren.

20My son, keep the commandment of thy father, And forsake not the law of thy mother:

21Bind them continually upon thy heart; Tie them about thy neck.

22When thou walkest, it shall lead thee; When thou sleepest, it shall watch over thee; And when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

23For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; And reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

24To keep thee from the evil woman, From the flattery of the foreigner's tongue.

25Lust not after her beauty in thy heart; Neither let her take thee with her eyelids.

26For on account of a harlot `a man is brought' to a piece of bread; And the adulteress hunteth for the precious life.

27Can a man take fire in his bosom, And his clothes not be burned?

28Or can one walk upon hot coals, And his feet not be scorched?

29So he that goeth in to his neighbor's wife; Whosoever toucheth her shall not be unpunished.

30Men do not despise a thief, if he steal To satisfy himself when he is hungry:

31But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; He shall give all the substance of his house.

32He that committeth adultery with a woman is void of understanding: He doeth it who would destroy his own soul.

33Wounds and dishonor shall he get; And his reproach shall not be wiped away.

34For jealousy is the rage of a man; And he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

35He will not regard any ransom; Neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.

1내 아들아 네가 만일 이웃을 위하여 담보하며 타인을 위하여 보증하였으면

2네 입의 말로 네가 얽혔으며 네 입의 말로 인하여 잡히게 되었느니라

3내 아들아 네가 네 이웃의 손에 빠졌은즉 이같이 하라 너는 곧 가서 겸손히 네 이웃에게 간구하여 스스로 구원하되

4네 눈을 잠들게 하지 말며 눈꺼풀을 감기게 하지 말고

5노루가 사냥꾼의 손에서 벗어나는 것 같이, 새가 그물 치는 자의 손에서 벗어나는 것 같이 스스로 구원하라

6게으른 자여 개미에게 가서 그가 하는 것을 보고 지혜를 얻으라

7개미는 두령도 없고 감독자도 없고 통치자도 없으되

8먹을 것을 여름 동안에 예비하며 추수 때에 양식을 모으느니라

9게으른 자여 네가 어느 때까지 누워 있겠느냐 네가 어느 때에 잠이 깨어 일어나겠느냐

10좀더 자자, 좀더 졸자, 손을 모으고 좀더 누워 있자 하면

11네 빈궁이 강도 같이 오며 네 곤핍이 군사 같이 이르리라

12불량하고 악한 자는 구부러진 말을 하고 다니며

13눈짓을 하며 발로 뜻을 보이며 손가락질을 하며

14그의 마음에 패역을 품으며 항상 악을 꾀하여 다툼을 일으키는 자라

15그러므로 그의 재앙이 갑자기 내려 당장에 멸망하여 살릴 길이 없으리라

16여호와께서 미워하시는 것 곧 그의 마음에 싫어하시는 것이 예닐곱 가지이니

17곧 교만한 눈과 거짓된 혀와 무죄한 자의 피를 흘리는 손과

18악한 계교를 꾀하는 마음과 빨리 악으로 달려가는 발과

19거짓을 말하는 망령된 증인과 및 형제 사이를 이간하는 자이니라

20내 아들아 네 아비의 명령을 지키며 네 어미의 법을 떠나지 말고

21그것을 항상 네 마음에 새기며 네 목에 매라

22그것이 네가 다닐 때에 너를 인도하며 네가 잘 때에 너를 보호하며 네가 깰 때에 너와 더불어 말하리니

23대저 명령은 등불이요 법은 빛이요 훈계의 책망은 곧 생명의 길이라

24이것이 너를 지켜 악한 여인에게, 이방 여인의 혀로 호리는 말에 빠지지 않게 하리라

25네 마음에 그의 아름다움을 탐하지 말며 그 눈꺼풀에 홀리지 말라

26음녀로 말미암아 사람이 한 조각 떡만 남게 됨이며 음란한 여인은 귀한 생명을 사냥함이니라

27사람이 불을 품에 품고서야 어찌 그의 옷이 타지 아니하겠으며

28사람이 숯불을 밟고서야 어찌 그의 발이 데지 아니하겠느냐

29남의 아내와 통간하는 자도 이와 같을 것이라 그를 만지는 자마다 벌을 면하지 못하리라

30도둑이 만일 주릴 때에 배를 채우려고 도둑질하면 사람이 그를 멸시하지 아니하려니와

31들키면 칠 배를 갚아야 하리니 심지어 자기 집에 있는 것을 다 내주게 되리라

32여인과 간음하는 자는 무지한 자라 이것을 행하는 자는 자기의 영혼을 망하게 하며

33상함과 능욕을 받고 부끄러움을 씻을 수 없게 되나니

34남편이 투기로 분노하여 원수 갚는 날에 용서하지 아니하고

35어떤 보상도 받지 아니하며 많은 선물을 줄지라도 듣지 아니 하리라

1Judge me, O Jehovah, for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in Jehovah without wavering.

2Examine me, O Jehovah, and prove me; Try my heart and my mind.

3For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes; And I have walked in thy truth.

4I have not sat with men of falsehood; Neither will I go in with dissemblers.

5I hate the assembly of evil-doers, And will not sit with the wicked.

6I will wash my hands in innocency: So will I compass thine altar, O Jehovah;

7That I may make the voice of thanksgiving to be heard, And tell of all thy wondrous works.

8Jehovah, I love the habitation of thy house, And the place where thy glory dwelleth.

9Gather not my soul with sinners, Nor my life with men of blood;

10In whose hands is wickedness, And their right hand is full of bribes.

11But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity: Redeem me, and be merciful unto me.

12My foot standeth in an even place: In the congregations will I bless Jehovah. Psalm 27 `A Psalm' of David.

1내가 나의 완전함에 행하였사오며 흔들리지 아니하고 여호와를 의지하였사오니 여호와여 나를 판단하소서

2여호와여 나를 살피시고 시험하사 내 뜻과 내 양심을 단련하소서

3주의 인자하심이 내 목전에 있나이다 내가 주의 진리 중에 행하여

4허망한 사람과 같이 앉지 아니하였사오니 간사한 자와 동행하지도 아니하리이다

5내가 행악자의 집회를 미워하오니 악한 자와 같이 앉지 아니하리이다

6여호와여 내가 무죄하므로 손을 씻고 주의 제단에 두루 다니며

7감사의 소리를 들려 주고 주의 기이한 모든 일을 말하리이다

8여호와여 내가 주께 계신 집과 주의 영광이 머무는 곳을 사랑하오니

9내 영혼을 죄인과 함께, 내 생명을 살인자와 함께 거두지 마소서

10그들의 손에 사악함이 있고 그들의 오른손에 뇌물이 가득하오나

11나는 나의 완전함에 행하오리니 나를 속량하시고 내게 은혜를 베푸소서

12내 발이 평탄한 데에 섰사오니 무리 가운데에서 여호와를 송축하리이다

1Jehovah is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? Jehovah is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?

2When evil-doers came upon me to eat up my flesh, `Even' mine adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.

3Though a host should encamp against me, My heart shall not fear: Though war should rise against me, Even then will I be confident.

4One thing have I asked of Jehovah, that will I seek after; That I may dwell in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of Jehovah, And to inquire in his temple.

5For in the day of trouble he will keep me secretly in his pavilion: In the covert of his tabernacle will he hide me; He will lift me up upon a rock.

6And now shall my head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me. And I will offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto Jehovah.

7Hear, O Jehovah, when I cry with my voice: Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

8`When thou saidst', Seek ye my face; My heart said unto thee, Thy face, Jehovah, will I seek.

9Hide not thy face from me; Put not thy servant away in anger: Thou hast been my help; Cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

10When my father and my mother forsake me, Then Jehovah will take me up.

11Teach me thy way, O Jehovah; And lead me in a plain path, Because of mine enemies.

12Deliver me not over unto the will of mine adversaries: For false witnesses are risen up against me, And such as breathe out cruelty.

13`I had fainted', unless I had believed to see the goodness of Jehovah In the land of the living.

14Wait for Jehovah: Be strong, and let thy heart take courage; Yea, wait thou for Jehovah. Psalm 28 `A Psalm' of David.

1여호와는 나와 빛이요 나의 구원이시니 내가 누구를 두려워하리요 여호와는 내 생명의 능 력이시니 내가 누구를 무서워하리요

2악인들이 내 살을 먹으려고 내게로 왔으나 나의 대적들, 나의 원수들인 그들은 실족하여 넘어졌도다

3군대가 나를 대적하여 진 칠지라도 내 마음이 두렵지 아니하며 전쟁이 일어나 나를 치려 할지라도 나는 여전히 태연하리로다

4내가 여호와께 바라는 한 가지 일 그것을 구하리니 곧 내가 내 평생에 여호와의 집에 살면서 여호와의 아름다움을 바라보며 그의 성전에서 사모하는 그것이라

5여호와께서 환난 날에 나를 그의 초막 속에 비밀히 지키시고 그의 장막 은밀한 곳에 나를 숨기시며 높은 바위 위에 두시리로다

6이제 내 머리가 나를 둘러싼 내 원수 위에 들리리니 내가 그의 장막에서 즐거운 제사를 드리겠고 노래하며 여호와를 찬송하리로다

7여호와여 내가 소리 내어 부르짖을 때에 들으시고 또한 나를 긍휼히 여기사 응답하소서

8너희는 내 얼굴을 찾으라 하실 때에 내가 마음으로 주께 말하되 여호와여 내가 주의 얼굴을 찾으리이다 하였나이다

9주의 얼굴을 내게서 숨기지 마시고 주의 종을 노하여 버리지 마소서 주는 나의 도움이 되셨나이다 나의 구원의 하나님이시여 나를 버리지 마시고 떠나지 마소서

10내 부모는 나를 버렸으나 여호와는 나를 영접하시리이다

11여호와여 주의 도를 내게 가르치시고 내 원수를 생각하셔서 평탄한 길로 나를 인도하소서

12내 생명을 내 대적에게 맡기지 마소서 위증자와 악을 토하는 자가 일어나 나를 치려 함이니이다

13내가 산 자들의 땅에서 여호와의 선하심을 보게 될 줄 확실히 믿었도다

14너는 여호와를 기다릴지어다 강하고 담대하며 여호와를 기다릴지어다

1Unto thee, O Jehovah, will I call: My rock, be not thou deaf unto me; Lest, if thou be silent unto me, I become like them that go down into the pit.

2Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, When I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle.

3Draw me not away with the wicked, And with the workers of iniquity; That speak peace with their neighbors, But mischief is in their hearts.

4Give them according to their work, and according to the wickedness of their doings: Give them after the operation of their hands; Render to them their desert.

5Because they regard not the works of Jehovah, Nor the operation of his hands, He will break them down and not build them up.

6Blessed be Jehovah, Because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.

7Jehovah is my strength and my shield; My heart hath trusted in him, and I am helped: Therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; And with my song will I praise him.

8Jehovah is their strength, And he is a stronghold of salvation to his anointed.

9Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: Be their shepherd also, and bear them up for ever. Psalm 29 A Psalm of David.

1여호와여 내가 주께 부르짖으오니 나의 반석이여 내게 귀를 막지 마소서 주께서 내게 잠 잠하시면 내가 무덤에 내려가는 자와 같을까 하나이다

2내가 주의 지성소를 향하여 나의 손을 들고 주께 부르짖을 때에 나의 간구하는 소리를 들으소서

3악인과 악을 행하는 자들과 함께 나를 끌어내지 마옵소서 그들은 그 이웃에게 화평을 말하나 그들의 마음에는 악독이 있나이다

4그들이 하는 일과 그들의 행위가 악한 대로 갚으시며 그들의 손이 지은 대로 그들에게 갚아 그 마땅히 받을 것으로 그들에게 갚으소서

5그들은 여호와께서 행하신 일과 손으로 지으신 것을 생각하지 아니하므로 여호와께서 그들을 파괴하고 건설하지 아니하시리로다

6여호와를 찬송함이여 내 간구하는 소리를 들으심이로다

7여호와는 나의 힘과 나의 방패이시니 내 마음이 그를 의지하여 도움을 얻었도다 그러므로 내 마음이 크게 기뻐하며 내 노래로 그를 찬송하리로다

8여호와는 그들의 힘이시요 그의 기름 부음 받은 자의 구원의 요새이시로다

9주의 백성을 구원하시며 주의 산업에 복을 주시고 또 그들의 목자가 되시어 영원토록 그들을 인도하소서

1Ascribe unto Jehovah, O ye sons of the mighty, Ascribe unto Jehovah glory and strength.

2Ascribe unto Jehovah the glory due unto his name; Worship Jehovah in holy array.

3The voice of Jehovah is upon the waters: The God of glory thundereth, Even Jehovah upon many waters.

4The voice of Jehovah is powerful; The voice of Jehovah is full of majesty.

5The voice of Jehovah breaketh the cedars; Yea, Jehovah breaketh in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.

6He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young wild-ox.

7The voice of Jehovah cleaveth the flames of fire.

8The voice of Jehovah shaketh the wilderness; Jehovah shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.

9The voice of Jehovah maketh the hinds to calve, And strippeth the forests bare: And in his temple everything saith, Glory.

10Jehovah sat `as King' at the Flood; Yea, Jehovah sitteth as King for ever.

1너희 권능 있는 자들아 영광과 능력을 여호와께 돌리고 돌릴지어다

2여호와께 그의 이름에 합당한 영광을 돌리며 거룩한 옷을 입고 여호와께 예배할지어다

3여호와의 소리가 물 위에 있도다 영광의 하나님이 우렛소리를 내시니 여호와는 많은 물 위에 계시도다

4여호와의 소리가 힘 있음이여 여호와의 소리가 위엄차도다

5여호와의 소리가 백향목을 꺾으심이여 여호와께서 레바논 백향목을 꺾어 부수시도다

6그 나무를 송아지 같이 뛰게 하심이여 레바논과 시룐으로 들송아지 같이 뛰게 하시도다

8여호와의 소리가 광야를 진동하심이여 여호와께서 가데스 광야를 진동시키시도다

9여호와의 소리가 암사슴을 낙태하게 하시고 삼림을 말갛게 벗기시니 그의 성전에서 그의 모든 것들이 말하기를 영광이라하도다

10여호와에서 홍수 때에 좌정하셨음이여 여호와께서 영원하도록 왕으로 좌정하시도다

11여호와께서 자기 백성에게 힘을 주심이여 여호와께서 자기 백성에게 평강의 복을 주시리로다

1I will extol thee, O Jehovah; for thou hast raised me up, And hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.

2O Jehovah my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

3O Jehovah, thou hast brought up my soul from Sheol; Thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

4Sing praise unto Jehovah, O ye saints of his, And give thanks to his holy memorial `name'.

5For his anger is but for a moment; His favor is for a life-time: Weeping may tarry for the night, But joy `cometh' in the morning.

6As for me, I said in my prosperity, I shall never be moved.

7Thou, Jehovah, of thy favor hadst made my mountain to stand strong: Thou didst hide thy face; I was troubled.

8I cried to thee, O Jehovah; And unto Jehovah I made supplication:

9What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?

10Hear, O Jehovah, and have mercy upon me: Jehovah, be thou my helper.

11Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing; Thou hast loosed my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;

12To the end that `my' glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Jehovah my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever. Psalm 31 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

1여호와여 내가 주를 높일 것은 주께서 나를 끌어내사 내 원수로 하여금 나로 말미암아 기뻐하지 못하게 하심이니이다

2여호와 내 하나님이여 내가 주께 부르짖으매 나를 고치셨나이다

3여호와여 주께서 내 영혼을 스올에서 끌어내어 나를 살리사 무덤으로 내려가지 아니하게 하셨나이다

4주의 성도들아 여호와를 찬송하며 그의 거룩함을 기억하며 감사하라

5그의 노여움은 잠깐이요 그의 은총은 평생이로다 저녁에는 울음이 깃들일지라도 아침에는 기쁨이 오리로다

6내가 형통할 때에 말하기를 영원히 흔들리지 아니하리라 하였도다

7여호와여 주의 은혜로 나를 산 같이 굳게 세우셨더니 주의 얼굴을 가리시매 내가 근심하였나이다

8여호와여 내가 주께 부르짖고 여호와께 간구하기를

9내가 무덤에 내려갈 때에 나의 피가 무슨 유익이 있으리요 진토가 어떻게 주를 찬송하며 주의 진리를 선포하리이까

10여호와여 들으시고 내게 은혜를 베푸소서 여호와여 나를 돕는 자가 되소서 하였나이다

11주께서 나의 슬픔이 변하여 내게 춤이 되게 하시며 나의 베옷을 벗기고 기쁨으로 띠우셨나이다

12이는 잠잠하지 아니하고 내 영광으로 주를 찬송하게 하심이니 여호와 나의 하나님이여 내가 주께 영원히 감사하리이다
